OWN IT HIRE – TERMS AND CONDITIONS
1. INTRODUCTION
1.1 These Terms and Conditions govern the hire of garments and related items (the "Products") from Own It Hire (the "Company"). By renting or hiring any Products from the Company, you agree to abide by these terms.

1.3 Once your booking is confirmed, you will receive an automated confirmation message. This message will remind you to contact us via email or Instagram for all necessary information:
For pickups:
You’ll need to message us for the collection address and organise a pick-up time.
For postage orders:
You can reach out to request your tracking information.
You will also receive:
• A Rental Start Information email approximately 2 days prior to your selected hire start date.
• A Rental End Reminder email on the final day of your hire period.
1.4 Acceptance of Terms: By completing your hire booking or checkout, you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions and must abide by all rules and policies outlined herein.
2. RENTAL PERIOD
2.1 Pickups are available on your selected hire start date unless otherwise agreed. You must message us via Instagram or email before collection to receive the address and give us a time indication of when you’ll be picking it up.
2.2 Please message us via email or Instagram before coming to collect or return the garment(s). You’ll be reminded to do this in your booking confirmation.
2.3 Hire Dates:
Your hire period starts on the selected booking start date and ends on the selected return date.
Customers must select the date they would like their parcel to arrive or the date they would like to collect their hire piece.
Own It Hire generally recommends selecting a hire start date 1–2 days prior to your event date where possible.
Standard bookings are based on a 4-day hire period.
Longer hire periods may be available upon request by contacting Own It Hire directly and will incur additional hire fees.
For postage orders, parcels are generally dispatched approximately 3 business days prior to the selected hire start datevia Express Post, as delivery timeframes are typically 1–3 business days.
Please ensure timely returns to avoid late fees and prevent affecting the next booking.
Occasionally, garments may arrive earlier than the selected hire start date for postage hires. Arrival times are outside our control (see Section 7 for postage details).
2.4 Returns and Hire Bag
Local Pickup / Drop-off Orders:
Returns must be dropped in the parcel box at the collection point.
Your hire bag will include a paper detailing the exact return dates and the return process.
Postage Orders:
Your hire bag will include a paper detailing the exact return dates and the return process.
An Express Post return label will also be included. If you lose the label, please contact us immediately so we can send a replacement.
2.5 Garments must be returned on time unless otherwise agreed.
Late returns incur a $10 per day fee.
If the garment is not returned on time and cannot be re-hired, the full hire fee will be charged again.
3. HIRE FEES
3.1 The hire fee is based on the selected garment or Product and the agreed hire period.
4. PAYMENTS
4.1 Full payment for the hire must be made at the time of booking to secure the garment.
4.2 If the garment is returned with stains or damage that we are unable to clean or repair, you will be required to cover the cost of dry cleaning or repairs.
4.3 If the garment is damaged beyond repair or not returned, you will be charged the full RRP (Recommended Retail Price) of the item.
4.4 Hire Fee & Replacement Costs
The hire fee paid does NOT reduce, offset, or form part of any replacement cost.
If a garment is damaged beyond repair or not returned, the full RRP is payable in addition to the hire fee already paid.
Payment of the FULL RRP (Recommended Retail Price) does not transfer ownership of the garment to the customer. All garments remain the property of Own It Hire unless otherwise agreed in writing.
Customers are not entitled to keep, retain, or request the damaged garment, including garments deemed damaged beyond repair.
4.5 Shipping fees are non-refundable.
5. CLEANING AND CARE
5.1 Please treat all garments with care, avoiding contact with fake tan, perfume, makeup, and food/drinks.
5.2 The Company will hand wash all garments. Dry cleaning is not included in the hire price.
5.3 If the garment is returned with stains or damage that we are unable to clean, the customer will be responsible for dry cleaning fees, which will be invoiced accordingly.
5.4 Do not attempt to clean the garment yourself.
5.5 Notify Own It Hire Immediately
Notify Own It Hire immediately if any damage or stains occur during the hire period.
5.6 Dry Cleaning Notification
If a garment requires professional dry cleaning due to stains, marks, or odours, the customer will be provided with photographs where applicable, a brief explanation, the relevant Terms and Conditions agreed to at the time of booking, the dry cleaning cost, and payment details.
6. DAMAGE, LOSS, AND REPAIR
6.1 If a garment is returned damaged or in poor condition, the Company reserves the right to charge additional fees to repair the damage.
6.2 If the garment is damaged beyond repair or is lost, the customer is liable to pay the FULL RRP (Recommended Retail Price) of the item.
6.3 The customer is responsible for any subsequent cancellations or refunds to other customers who had booked the garment.
6.4 Minor faults are not grounds for a refund, unless the garment is unwearable (e.g., major staining, tears, or broken zips).
6.5 Customers must notify Own It Hire immediately of any damage, including stains, holes, rips, tears, or broken zips.
6.6 Damage Beyond Repair Assessment
If a hired item is assessed as damaged beyond repair, the customer will be contacted as soon as reasonably practicable.
Own It Hire works closely with a professional seamstress when assessing garment damage and repairability.
6.6A Alteration Costs and Loss of Hire Value
Where a garment requires alteration, structural repair, or seamstress modification as a result of damage occurring during the hire period, the customer will be liable for the full cost of such alteration or repair.
If, following alteration or repair, the garment is deemed unsuitable for re-hire due to visible changes, structural modification, or loss of original condition, the customer will also be liable to pay the FULL RRP (Recommended Retail Price) of the item in accordance with these Terms and Conditions.
Payment of alteration or repair costs does not limit or replace liability for the full RRP where the garment is no longer suitable for hire.
6.7 No Requirement for Formal Seamstress Assessment
By agreeing to these Terms and Conditions, you acknowledge and agree that Own It Hire is NOT required to provide a written or formal seamstress assessment, report, or quote.
The decision of Own It Hire is final.
6.8 Failure to Pay or Resolve Damage
If a customer fails to pay any invoiced amount relating to damage, loss, or replacement, or fails to engage reasonably and in good faith, Own It Hire will have NO ALTERNATIVE BUT TO COMMENCE PROCEEDINGS IN THE SMALL CLAIMS TRIBUNAL WITHOUT FURTHER NOTICE.
6.9 Damage Notification & Evidence
If a garment is damaged beyond repair, the customer will be provided with photographs of the damage, a brief explanation of the assessment, the relevant Terms and Conditions agreed to at the time of booking, the replacement cost (RRP), and payment details.
7. POSTAGE
7.1 Typical delivery time is 1–3 business days.
7.2 For interstate hires, bookings requiring postage must be placed by Tuesday.
7.3 An additional postage fee of $30 will apply for all items requiring postage. This fee is non-refundable.
7.4 Parcels are generally dispatched approximately 3 business days prior to the selected hire start date via Express Post, as delivery timeframes are typically 1–3 business days.
7.5 Arrival times are not guaranteed and are outside the control of Own It Hire.
Occasionally, garments may arrive earlier than the selected hire start date for postage hires.
7.6 Own It Hire is not responsible for delays with Australia Post or couriers.
7.7 You are responsible for posting the garment back on time using the provided Express Post return label.
7.8 Please let us know once you’ve posted it back.
7A. UBER PACKAGE
Uber Package is a service available to customers who select pickup but are unable to collect their hire in person.
Customers must contact us via DMs to organise this and arrange the Uber delivery through their own Uber account, at their own expense and on top of the hire fee.
This service is not part of the shipping service. The shipping service applies to postage orders only.
8. LATE RETURNS
8.1 A late fee of $10 per day will apply.
8.2 If the garment cannot be re-hired due to late return, the full hire fee will be charged again.
8.3 If the garment is damaged and cannot be re-hired, the customer is liable for the full cost of the garment plus any related fees.
9. REFUNDS AND CANCELLATIONS
9.1 Own It Hire does NOT offer refunds for cancellations, change of mind, event postponements, sizing issues, or incorrect bookings.
9.2 Store Credits
Store credits may be issued at the discretion of Own It Hire. To be eligible for a store credit, the hired garment must be returned as soon as possible after trying on.
If the garment is kept for the full hire period, the customer will not be eligible for a store credit.
9.3 Swaps for Local Customers
For local customers only, a swap may be offered for another garment of a similar hire value, subject to availability, provided the original garment is returned immediately and in the same condition as received.
9.4 Product Images & Model Sizing
Images displayed on the Own It Hire website are reference images sourced from the brand or social media and are used to show the style of the garment only. The model featured in images may be wearing a different size to the garment available for hire.
The exact size of each garment available for hire is clearly listed in the product description under every item at the time of booking. Customers are responsible for reviewing the sizing information provided.
Own It Hire is not responsible if a garment does not fit as expected based on assumptions made from images alone.
10. MINOR DAMAGE
10.1 Hire pieces may show minor faults, wear, or imperfections. As these are rental garments that are continuously hired out, general wear and tear can naturally occur over time. These are not eligible for refunds or store credits.
Examples include:
• Missing or loose buttons
• Small marks or light wear
• Minor stitching issues
• Minor pulls or loose threads
• Missing sequins, glitter, or beads
• Slight fabric wear or fading
• Minor imperfections to zips or clasps that do not affect wearability
• Faint dirt marks or minor wear to the bottom hem of dresses
11. GOVERNING LAW
11.1 These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of Queensland, Australia.
11.2 Any disputes will be resolved in the courts of Queensland.
12. PRIVACY POLICY
12.1 Own It Hire collects personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
12.2 Information is collected for bookings, communication, and service delivery.
12.3 Personal details will never be shared unless required by law.
13. LIABILITY
13.1 Own It Hire is not responsible for personal injury, allergic reactions, or any other issues arising from the use of the garment.
